The Stone Cemetery was located in Marion County, Tennessee, until an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee erected Sequatchie County in 1857, from parts of Marion, Hamilton and Bledsoe Counties of Tennessee.

Stone Cemetery is located on West Valley Road about 5 miles South West of Downtown Dunlap, Sequatchie County, Tennessee. This cemetery is a short ways off the road with an Iron gate at the entrance. There is an old fence surrounding the cemetery that is approximately 100 feet wide and 300 feet long with very large, old Oak trees scattered about the cemetery. The weather and nature are taking over this old cemetery and it is in need of some care. We counted 29 graves that were marked with just a rock or the markers had washed away enough you could not read them and there are some sunken places that could be graves that are no longer marked.

We have done our best to record the names and dates of the individuals that are buried in this cemetery as they appeared on their markers but mistakes can be made. If there needs to be a correction, or an addition of someone we might have left out, please Contact me and Iwill be happy to make the addition or corrections. Thank you.

Right - The gravestone of John Randles located in the graveyard of Boyd's Creek Baptist Church, TN. Ezekiel Stone was a delegate for this church in 1803 and again in 1805. He received land from the government here for his Revolutionary war service and he and family including son William Stone moved here from Union District, South Carolina (Where general William stone was born) in 1795. John Randles is the brother of James Randles who is the father of Mary Randles Stone.

The spelling of the surname “Randles” is how the family spelled it then, and is or should be the same today.

(Mr. Dean Rogers)
