Frederick's Circle Cemetery
Signal Mountain, Sequatchie County, Tennessee
This Cemetery (7 graves) is located on Signal Mountain, inside the property of Bowater Paper Mill (Paper Mill located in Bradley Co., TN), out in the middle of the woods, in what is called “Frederick's Circle” in the Horseshoe. There are 4 mountain stones marking gravesites and 3 more sunken places, indicating a total of 7 graves, but no names or dates are there. These graves were found by locals telling me about these graves in the Horseshoe and that it is the location of the Frederick's Homeplace in the early 1800's.
Before any boundaries were formed, this area was Indian Territory. Then it became a part of North Carolina before Tennessee.

Searching local records, this Frederick’s Circle in the Horseshoe of Signal mountain, there is mention of a settlement owned by Richard Hudson. This has also been stated by older locals in the area and was also mentioned in a conversation with Edgar Hudson, descendant of Richard Hudson.
Land Grant # 21391, Deed Book 20, Page 563 State of Tennessee, Sequatchie Co., Sept. 18, 1830 this property was owned by Laton K. Smith.
1857 this property is found to be owned by John Frederick and is said to have been 4,639 acre tract of land on the Mountain in Sequatchie County. (Along the Pike, by James Douthat, p. 148, also found mentioned at the Chattanooga Library in the Early Land Records of Hamilton Co., TN)
John and Sophia Frederick, their children named Louisa, James M., Joseph, Isaac and William.
