Joseph Davis born Nov. 26, 1803, died Sept. 6, 1882, his wives ... Elizabeth Heard Davis, b. April 1, 1808, d. Feb. 26, 1858, and his 2nd wife, Nancy Heard Davis, b. 1830, d. Aug. 1933, their graves are not far from this house, in Davis Chapel Cemetery. Some of the local folks have stated to me that Joseph Davis was the oldest son of William Davis and Susannah Hixson, daughter of Joseph Hixson and Susannah Stringfield, that Joseph Davis was named after his Grandfather, Joseph Hixson. After hours of research, I have not been able to find any document to prove the parentage of Joseph Davis.
