Stone Cave # 1

Named for the Stone Family who settled in the Sequatchie Valley around 1812, Ezekiel and his wife, Jane Wood, along with their children and most of Ezekiel Stone's relatives and friends, all were moving in a long wagon train, planning to travel on to the West. One of Ezekiel Stone's sons, William, was married then and had one child which got sick and they had to stop, but the rest of the train went on. The Stone Family stopped in what is now known as the Sequatchie Valley in Tenn. By a big cave, now known as the Stone Cave, just off West Valley Road. When William and Mary Randall Stone's baby got well enough to go on, they liked the valley and the area so well they desided to stay.
