Stone Cave # 2

Named for the Stone Family who settled in the Sequatchie Valley around 1808. This Stone Cave is located just off Stone Cave Road, along with the Stone Spring that flows from the caverns. Some of the “Elder Locals” say it was settled into by John Stone, and some of them told me it was Thomas Stone, that lived in the cave, everyone told me that the area was settled by the four sons of Ezekiel Stone, but can't find documentation on which Stone brother settled on Stone Cave Road, by the springs.

Ezekiel and Jane Wood Stone had 4 sons: 1. William, born 1791, married Mary Randall; 2. John, born 1793, married Susannah Kelley; 3. Thomas Price, born 1803, married Minnie Bell; 4. Richard, married Anne Kelley. Source: History of Hamilton Co., and Chattanooga, TN, page 278
